After almost five years serving immigrants across North Carolina, we regret to announce the indefinite suspension of all legal services and operations effective June 30, 2025.
This difficult decision was made in light of ongoing financial challenges that have prevented us from sustaining our work. It is especially painful to do this at a time when affordable legal services are desperately needed by immigrant communities across the state.
We are immensely grateful to our dedicated staff, volunteers, generous donors, and steadfast community partners who have supported our mission to provide affordable legal services to low-income immigrants across North Carolina since 2020. We are committed to ensuring a responsible transition for our remaining clients.
While we are suspending services, this does not mean dissolution. The North Carolina Immigration Law & Justice Center will continue to exist as an organization. With the support of our national network and partners, the board of directors will actively work to rebuild capacity with the goal of reopening in the future.
Best,
Joshua N. James
